Hi and salam everyone,

as you know, I've launched my own website a few months ago: www.tuffix.net

Now, I am thinking about embedding an online shop. I read about the wordpress plugin WooCommerce. Does anybody work with that? Especially someone from Germay (thinking about the legal framework..)?

Thank you!

Dear Deviants,

I just checked: My last journal entry was six mounths ago!

Very much happened since then, the most important news being: My very own website tuffix.net is online! Finally!

It took me ages.. no, it took me literally a whole year after my announcement to finally get it online. And there are STILL things not working. But anyhow, I am so happy and glad to finally have taken this step. I felt like it's all much more organised this way. Many many thanks to Serkan Zarasiz who helped me build it all up, may God bless him and his lovely family!

So please visit and enjoy: >>> www.tuffix.net <<<

feedback, suggestions, questions are very much welcome.

Best wassalam

Dear Deviants,

where shall I start....

Those of you who are following me on facebook (Soufeina Tuffix Ha) will know that there is so much going on, lately. Besides working at a local company while preparing my master's thesis, this all happened the last months (art-related of course):

After my latest journal entry there were more interviews: "Hannoversche Allgemeine Zeitung", "Hamburger Abendblatt", "Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung" , "Spiegel Online", Turkish Newspaper "Zaman", two times in the "taz", "Islamische Zeitung" and "ZeitCampus".

I gave lectures at an event in Darmstadt, a school in Saarlouis and a church in Osnabrück.

Me and my work were shortly presented in the "Women in the World Summit" (typical guests of that NY event: Hillary Clinton, Angelina Jolie, Meryl Streep..waaah). Moreover I had my works exhibited in Berlin at the "Islamwoche".

Next week my works will bei displayed in the Institute for Intercultural Islamic studies at the University of Osnabrück, where I will be giving a lecture, too.

It feels as if it's all too much fuss for just some comics and cartoons but again: Alhamdulillah, I thank God for all these chances I get lately!

And thank you again for your support, deviantart was a great stepping stone!

Salam and hi everyone,

I hope you're all fine. I thought I'd let you know about what's going on lately. I told you in my last journal entries that I had some interviews. And it's not getting fewer, it's really really crazy, guys.

Me in a TV-series about young, socially active Muslims in Germany is now on TV ("Deutsche Welle") and online. Even in English!

a  video for an online magazine,

an  interview for the awesome suficomics,

an  interview for a newspaper:

Moreover, my work is now published at the "International Museum of Women"’s (IMOW) online exhibition: "Muslima: Muslim Women’s Art & Voices"

They are also part of an exhibition
done on behalf of the Federal centre for political education. In this conext, I had the honor to show my art to a special guest of its opening: German President Joachim Gauck

Alhamdulillah, I thank God for all these chances I get lately!
Thank you all for your support,

tuffix/Soufeina
Hi and salams everyone!

Again: Thank God, there are more good news! It's really crazy how all this work is moving on so quickly (with special thanks to facebook, I guess)!

I had an other radio interview (I can't find the link to it) for a european wide radio channel ("Funkhaus Europa"). Moreover I got two requests for giving a lecture about comics as political and social mediums and instruments in events in Brussels and also in Darmstadt, Germany.

And.. ....I'm working on my own website!!!!!!! I got an offer from a very awesome guy, who is helping me building up that page. I'm really amazed by all the awesome support! Alhamdulillah! (Thank God!)

And I have a very cool picture for you: www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbi…
That pic brings a super broad grin to my face: "Sorrowfield" a Metal band with Marco Bianchi (who organised my exhibtion in Bremen) were playing on a "ROCK AGAINST RACISM". Now look at whose artwork found its way to the stage?! :D
I can't find the right word for this - the contrast is just freaking cool and funny :D

By the way: My exhibtion in Bremen is now on tour!

I thank you all for your support, I'm really grateful for all the oppurtunities I get, that allow me to contribute to a constructive dialogue of the cultures. And again: I thank God, alhamdulillah :)
Thank God, there are more good news: There are two other newspapers who published an article about me: The "Weser Kurier" and the biggest German newspaper (it's a tabloid) "Bild.de" --> www.bild.de/lifestyle/2013/lif…

Due to these articles more people contacted me for an interview, like a small catholic newspaper here in my town and a muslim news website.
As a result of the interviews, I'm going to visit the opening of my own small exhibition tomorrow, which will move around the German city Bremen (www.martinsclub.de/begegnungen…). There is also a radio interview with me: www.dradio.de/dkultur/sendunge…. And I also accepted to contribute to a segment in a German tv channel. And an online shop wants to buy my work to print it on things, they can sell.

That's crazy, isn't it?!! Guys, I can't tell you how weird all this attention is for me!! I mean, it's all a hobby and I never expected it to become such a big deal!

*Alhamdulillah* (thank God) :)
.. me and my art in the news ^^

2 weeks ago I was interviewed by a journalist of the "catholic news agency". I was told, that it could be, that only unknown christian newspapers would show interest. I didn't expect, that 3 big newspapers (Die Welt, Der Tagesspiegel, Märkische Allgemeine) would do so instead :)

Very happy about it! Alhamdulillah (thank god).
Sorry, it's all in German: www.tagesspiegel.de/kultur/com…

Hello and salam!

First of all: Happy Ramadan to all my Muslim friends.
It's our holy mounth and we are fasting from sunrise to sunset. In my city that makes 18 h without drinking or eating. But I'm fine alhamdulillah (thank God). Once you body got used to it, it's totally normal. You're focused on your mind and spirituality anyway (:

An other topic: Do you know www.postcrossing.com? It's a pretty cute project, where you can send and receive postcards from a random person in the world. I already sent a card to Russia and to the USA. It's fun and makes you excited when looking into your (non-virtual) mailbox (:

And to all of you: Happy summer!

Hey there,

I'm happy to share this with you:

Last monday I went back to my home city Berlin to attend the opening of an exhibition - the first one, I really worked for!
It's about muslims in Germany and was done on behalf of the German Federal Ministry of the Interior and implemented by the Bundeszentrale für politische Bildung (Federal centre for political education).
I did some comics about "stereotypes" and showed misunderstandings between muslims and non-muslims, between religious and non-religious people and within the muslim community itself.
The exhibition is going to travel all around Germany, visiting different schools for some weeks, so that the kids can reflect and talk about these issues with their teachers.

I'm sure you recognize my work on these photos (; --> www.wasglaubstdudenn.de/ausste…

It was my biggest commission and it was great honor to contribute to that! It's so much fun to work with so many different creative people!

Assalamu 3aleikum and hello everybody,

to all my Muslim friends: Wishing you a blessed and happy Ramadhan! May Allah make you feel this year's ramadhan from the bottom of your heart (:

And to all my Non-muslim friends ( and I'm repeating a friend's words): I wish you to get invited by Muslim friends to the Iftar (Fast-Breaking) - you will definetly like it :D

Today is the first day of fasting, alhamdulillah, and I wanted to share with you some nice things:

1) My Ramadhan-Tree : This tree was a commission of Islamic Relief - a world wide muslim non-profit relief and charity organization.  When you scroll down, you'll see a tree on the right side. Parents can print it for their children, who want to try out fasting. For every successful day, they can cut out an apple and stick it on the tree. For managing fasting only a half day there are halved apples. And every moon is for a good deed :)

2) Wise words by Tariq Ramadan: You already know, that I really like Tariq Ramadan's views. Here you can listen to his "ramadhan's chronicles": He decided to tell us some wise words for every day of this year's Ramadhan :)

3) Last but not least: Something that is a must for my Ramadhan feeling: Sheikh Sudais leading the prayer Mekkah in Ramadan 2012 This sound brings tears to my eyes
  • Listening to: Sudais
  • Reading: Book of the mounth: Quran :)
Don't worry, it's not about some disaster!

I just want to ask you for something, that has admittedly nothing to do with art.
It's about a German muslim network I'm working in, that is called "zahnräder netzwerk" --> guemuesay.com/2011/08/18/zahnr…

We are now successfully selected for the "Act for Impact" Award of the Vodafone Foundation and the Social Entrepreneurship Academy (SEA) and need every single vote in order to win this voting!

Please help and just click on "vote" for us (no need to enter your name or similar): www.facebook.com/seakademie/ap…

Thank you so much!
I decided that every vote from you gets a super special muro drawing :D

salam and bye

Salam and hello,

hope, you all are doing well. I'm fine, thank God. I was recently busy with making a comic page for the next print version of the cube-mag www.cube-mag.de/.

And.. did I tell you, that I'm now an official illustrator? Thank god and due to deviantart I am now an employed illustrator of a small agency (www.stilus-design.de/), which has a bookshop as well (www.stilus-store.de/index.php?…). Up to now I've designed that little "Kitabi"-mascot and a poster, you see on the page. We're planning more posters and a children's book. Kitabi is supposed to encourage kids to read; the coming posters will be more pedagogical (like "brushing your teethi cool" :D ).

It's fun and I'm very happy, that my long looked-for dream to be as a side-job-illustrator came true. And it doesn't matter, that there's no big money - not yet :D

I'll be back from Bosnia in a week, God willing!

Salam!

I'm preparing for an exam tomorrow (wish me luck). No, not really. I can't concentrate on my papers anymore, so I found this on Craig Thompsons blog: www.boltonblue.com/promo.html and ha d to read the whole online comic (by Pat Grant). I love the style and panel design but I need someone to talk about the story in it!
It's about immigrants and racism.. of a different type. You'll know what I mean, if you read it (;
Looking forward to a discussion!!

Hi and salam,

I'm sorry for submitting so few lately. I still take a look on my deviantart page every day so I thought I tell you, what's going on:
First, it's because I'm getting more and more commissions, that I am working on, alhamduillah (thank God). It feels good to make this experience and it's still fun.

Moreover I've started a big comic book project with a friend some mounths ago and we're now working on it regularly. I can't tell more about it, it's still a secret (;
I bought Blankets and read it (in one evening) and it's a great inspiration, not only the artwork itself but the fact, that you can produce something beautiful, if you keep working on it persistently.

I also was busy drawing for my 30-days-drawing challenge. On my birthday I got a present with 4 blank booklets. In each there was a copy of this  paper. They were 4 cause me and my 3 friends, we started the challenge together on the same day. Next week we're going to meet and talk about our results, so we can get to know each other better. I loved it and it was a lot of fun. Maybe I'll scan some pages of it for you.

Besides I'm preparing my bachelor thesis so I'm busy with college stuff as well. I'm most likely going to join a professor's research about "in-Group favouitism and the influence of accent on credibility". I hope it's as exciting as it sounds.

And in the end there are bad news, which make me feel pretty depressed this week:  My cat  was euthanised yesterday. He had bad resin crystals and kidney stones. It's very hard for me to realize it. Everything reminds me of him. I need to get used to our changed home now..

Bye and salam!

Hi and salam to everyone!

First of October today! And you know what? It's 24-hour-comics-day! www.24hourcomicsday.com/
I wish I could participate, sounds like a huge challenge and a lot of fun. I'm sure there's a place somewhere in Berlin, where people meet to go through this together.
..
Anyway, unfortunately I even can't turn it over on my mind, cause I have two exams next week. They really suck my energy, especially since I'm working besides. Last week was horrible; I felt so bad and depressed and somehow lonely. But it's weekend! And it's unbelievebly sunny and warm here, which builds me up again, alhamdulillah (thank God) :D

And I'm looking forward to after-exam-time, when I can finally realize all those I ideas I have collected for new drawings and new comics.

BTW you know RCiPD? After reading about the 24-hour-comics-day, I found out, there was an other day, I unfortanetly missed as well: The read-comics-in-public-day on Augsut 28 :D readcomicsinpublic.com/ It's about losing your embarassment when reading comics in public. The aim is to make society accept comics as "normal piece of art" and to stop the widely held opinion that it's just easy kids-reading. I like that Idea and... I feel I'm becoming a comic nerd more and more ^^

Have a nice weekend and for all German: Enjoy your free time on the Day of German Unity (;

Salam

Salam and hello everybody!

First: Eid mubarak to all my muslim sisters and brothers. I hope you had blessed and happy days with your families.

Corresponding to the :iconthe-gap-project:, which alhamdulillah (thanks God) is now making progress, I want to tell you about a great interresligious action here in Berlin.

On the occassion of Nine Eleven young religious people wanted to show, that we all are shocked about such terrorism, that we never accept such acts in the name of any religion.

That's why we - Bahai, Christian, Jewish and Muslim youth - together built a big tower, which consisted of many many cartons, that we had colored and inscribed before. Me for example, I wrote: "Together for a better world".

The project is called "Nein! Eleven", cause in German, "nein" means "no". The interior Minister of Berlin held a speach and there is song by Robert Lee Fardo, which was specially made for this campaign! It's called "Sweet Coco" (Coexistence) and I looove it! Here you can listen to it: soundcloud.com/run-united-offi…

Moreover every religious group made a prayer on that place, while the other religions were stanidng around them to symbolize "protection". It was so peaceful and so nice meeting other religious people and to exactly know, that they accept you and do not have any prejudices.

The radio and some magazines and newspaper published and still publish some articles about our project. I hope, inshaallah, the feeling and atmosphere of that day will soon expand.

Here you can see some pictures: juga-projekt.de/?page_id=9 and www.berlin.de/sen/inneres/inte…
