Assalamu 3aleikum, peace be to you and hello
Yay, I'm on holidays! And I'm totally captivated by my new discovery: Graphic novels!
I'm ashamed to admit, that as an artist, I didn't know them before. But in case you don't know them either: Graphic novels are just comics for adults. (Not Mangas!.. I actually don't read mangas..)
I found so many graphic novels, that I want to read now! Unfortunately they are even more expensive then normal novels, so I can't buy them all... And it's also hard to find them in the libraries because there is always someone else, who already took them.
However I managed to catch some of them. And there are especially 2, which I like to recommend:
1) "Same Difference" by Derek Kirk Kim. I really love the whole story (epecially the end.. ), his drawings and his cinematical narrative skills. Here is his blog and webcmic
2) "Palestine" by Joe Sacco. This one deals with a much more serious issue. Joe Sacco is a Maltese-American journalist, who went to Palestine to tell about the everyday life and trouble in the West Bank and in the Gaza Strip. The book is a colllection of comics, which are pretty impressive and shocking as well. Joe Saccos drawing style is very unique. I especially admire his way of using perspective and shading. I even thought of trying out his sytle.. (and I must buy this one... I must)
Maybe you like them, too. Anyway, I'd be happy, if you too have some recommendations.
Peace

New Project #callforstories
#callforstories
I have started an exciting project on instagram: I invite you to remember the last time you were deeply touched or saddened or full of laughter. Share that moment/incident with me (here, on IG, fb or mail to hello@tuffix.net). I will pick a few to make comics out of them (and of course tag you if you don't mind). So that we co-create stories that can strengthen our empathy and understanding and eventually bring us all closer to each other. It might sound cheesy ut if there is one thing that I have learned through my art than it is: Empathy through storytelling is stronger than any debate.
Come back?
Hello everyone!
Surprise! I haven't forgotten my login data here :)
Hope you are all doing well. It's been such a long time. I was contacted by one of my former deviant art-followers on instagram today and I thought I might check my account here again.
So much has happened since I have been active here: I finished my Master's in Psychology, I got married, I moved to Dublin I got a job 2 years ago in an amazing nonprofit leadership academy and: I left my job to focus on my art! I am extremely excited to be back drawing, I have so much energy, so much time and passion. So I might even be able to come back where it all began: Deviantart! Depe
Experiences with creating online shops?
Hi and salam everyone,
as you know, I've launched my own website a few months ago: www.tuffix.net
Now, I am thinking about embedding an online shop. I read about the wordpress plugin WooCommerce. Does anybody work with that? Especially someone from Germay (thinking about the legal framework..)?
Thank you!

It's done: I've got a website!!!
Dear Deviants,
I just checked: My last journal entry was six mounths ago!
Very much happened since then, the most important news being: My very own website tuffix.net is online! Finally!
It took me ages.. no, it took me literally a whole year after my announcement to finally get it online. And there are STILL things not working. But anyhow, I am so happy and glad to finally have taken this step. I felt like it's all much more organised this way. Many many thanks to Serkan Zarasiz who helped me build it all up, may God bless him and his lovely family!
So please visit and enjoy: >>> www.tuffix.net <<<

Have you ever heard of "Blankets"? It's a graphic novel by Craig Thompson, very touching, I loved it. It's autobiographic, dealing with personal matters like religion, love and bonds between people. I really recommend it, it's genius.
